HOW TO DOWNLOAD AND RUN THE PORTABLE VERSION OF THE SOFTWARE(READ CAREFULLY)

Starting with version 5.0.0, the Scriba Lyric software is also available in a 'Portable' version. This means that it doesn't need to be installed on Windows to use it; all you need to do is have the folder containing the application files on your PC. The download process will download a zip file containing all the application files to your PC. Once the zip file is downloaded, simply extract its contents (unzip the file). This will create a folder with the same name as the downloaded zip file. This folder will contain all the application files. To launch the application, simply navigate to the created folder and double-click the ScribaLyric file. Important: since files downloaded from the web have a block flag, before unzipping the downloaded file you will need to cancel this block by changing a flag relating to the file properties. To unblock, right-click the downloaded file and select "Properties" from the context menu. In the dialog box that appears, click the "General" tab and then check the "Unblock" checkbox at the bottom. To unblock, left-click the "Unblock" text next to the checkbox. A checkmark will appear in the previously empty box. Once the "Unblock" checkbox is checked, you'll need to unzip the file.

Here is the procedure to follow:

1) Click on the download button (the green button below with the name 'Download Scriba Lyric Portable')

2) Once the download is complete, go to your computer's Download folder and find the file called ScribaLyric Portable 5.0.0 (Note: the numbers following the word 'Portable' indicate the version number, so they may vary from time to time)

3) Right-click on the downloaded file name and from the context menu that appears, click on 'Properties' (Note: the properties item is usually the last item that appears in the menu)

4) In the properties window, click on the 'General' tab

5) At the bottom of the 'General' tab, locate the check box labeled 'Unblock'

6) Check the box by clicking "Unblock." A check mark will appear in the box (see figure below).

7) After checking the 'Unblock' checkbox, click the 'Apply' button.

8) Right-click the downloaded file name. Click "Extract All..." from the context menu. Then click the "Extract" button in the compressed folder extraction dialog box.

9) Once the extraction is complete, a folder with the same name as the file will be created in the Downloads folder (the folder where the previously downloaded file is located) (for example the folder called ScribaLyric Portable 5.0.0) and containing all the software files. NOTE: for convenience, the folder containing the software files can be moved directly to the Windows Desktop.

10) To run the ScribaLyric program, go to the files folder and double-click the ScribaLyric file. NOTE: If you use an antivirus program, the first time you launch the software, it may take 5-6 seconds to launch to allow the antivirus program to scan the file. Subsequent times, the software will launch immediately after you double-click the ScribaLyric file.
